Diana is a licensed marriage and family therapist, having completed her Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University with an emphasis in holistic studies, including somatic and transpersonal psychotherapies. Diana earned her B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work from Chapman University. Her undergraduate internship included working with families through a local Child Abuse Prevention Agency, educating families and parents about healthy parenting practices.
Diana has over six years experience working at various eating disorder treatment centers throughout the Bay Area. Her experience includes residential, PHP/IOP, and out-patient settings working with teens, adults and their families.
Diana has a background in energy healing practices and yoga and has certifications as a Reiki teacher and practitioner, hypnotherapist and yoga instructor. She is passionate about working with those struggling with eating disorders. Her approach is client-centered and integrates DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), somatic (body-oriented), gestalt, psychodynamic, and emotionally-focused theories.
She views her role in the recovery process as an ally and strives to encourage individuals and families to be a mindful participant in their lives through self-compassion, witnessing and accepting one’s emotional experiences, strengthening the true Self, and finding healthier ways of coping.
