Katy Lackey is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW 85780) in the state of California. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California with a focus on community mental health. Katy’s clinical experience includes being a milieu therapist at the Healthy Teen Project before moving into a therapist role in the same setting. Prior to joining HTP, she worked with young children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including the foster care system and acute inpatient setting for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

Katy takes an intentionally eclectic approach to meet the needs of each person and family in treatment. She incorporates Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and creative art techniques. She is certified in Family Based Treatment, with supervision completed with Dr. Kara Fitzpatrick and Blake Woodside, M.D.

Katy is currently pursuing additional training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and trauma-focused treatment approaches as she is dedicated to ongoing educational pursuit to provide her clients with high quality, evidence-based, and relationally driven care.

Katy sees the therapeutic relationship as an essential tool for healing, while also placing great focus on empowering families to connect to and heal with their own strengths and skills. She takes pride in supporting teens through the process of healing and exploring their true selves.

For self-care and balance, Katy practices yoga, dances at live music shows, explores new food spots in SF, and spends time with her friends and family.
